Fort Fincastle and the Queen’s Staircase Tour

3 Hours

Overview

Queen’s Staircase (also known as the “66 Steps”) was carved between 1793 and 1794 out of solid limestone by enslaved laborers to create a direct path to Fort Fincastle. Today, 65 steps are visible, as the bottom one was covered during later paving. It serves as a poignant symbol of resilience and history.
